The IILM’s internship programme provides opportunities for highly talented and motivated individuals to obtain practical work experience to complement their academic learning while gaining valuable insight and exposure to the workings and mandate of the IILM. The IILM’s internship programme provides opportunities for highly talented and motivated individuals to obtain practical work experience to complement their academic learning while gaining valuable insight and exposure to the workings and mandate of the IILM. In addition, an internship with the IILM is also an excellent way for individuals to learn and bring new perspectives while improving their skills in a dynamic and diverse environment.  
Since 2013, the IILM has been a regular issuer of short-term Sukuk in the market, having issued in excess of 85 Sukuk to facilitate cross-border liquidity management for institutions offering Islamic financial services. The IILM is currently seeking internships to primarily assist on a key internal research project, which is expected to underpin and shape the future direction of the IILM. The successful candidate would also be expected to undertake other ad-hoc initiatives from time to time. 
Duration of the internship is a minimum of 3 months. 
Eligibility Criteria 
To be eligible for an internship, candidates must have an undergraduate degree and be enrolled in a relevant graduate study program (either pursuing a Master's Degree or PhD). 
Candidates must be at least 20 years old at the time of application.  
Fluency in written and spoken English is required as well as strong skills in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Powerpoint, Word). 
Experience in data analysis, particularly in analysing survey results is an added advantage.  
Interns will be eligible for an allowance however all travel and living costs will be borne by the intern.
(1) Internship -  Market Research Analyst with Social Media Skills (2020/INTERN/05/009)

The candidate will be joining the Business Operation team as an Intern and be responsible to survey and gather stakeholders preferences and statistical data in order to support stakeholders during their decision making process regarding product prices and services.

The candidate is expected to: 
•           Monitor and forecast market, research and news trends relevant to the IILM 
•           Measure the effectiveness of marketing programs and strategies
•           Devise and evaluate methods for collecting data, such as surveys, questionnaires, and opinion polls
•           Gather data on investors, competitors, other stakeholders and market conditions
•           Analyse data using statistical software
•           Convert complex data and findings into understandable tables, graphs, and written reports
•           Prepare reports and present results to management
•           Develop, implement and manage our social media strategy
•           Manage and oversee social media content
•           Measure the success of every social media campaign
•           Stay up to date with the latest social media best practices and technologies
•           Undertake ad-hoc projects given by Management

Professional qualification
•           Bachelor Degree in Business Studies and Digital Media Communication

Required Experience
•           Proven work experience as a community manager or similar role

•           Experience planning and leading community initiatives
•           Ability to identify and track relevant community KPIs
•           Excellent verbal communication and writing skills
•           Excellent interpersonal and presentations skills
•           Hands on experience with social media management
•           Ability to interpret website traffic
•           Knowledge of online marketing 
•           Attention to detail, critical-thinker and problem-solver

(2) Internship – Legal and Compliance (2020/INTERN/05/010)

The candidate will be joining the Legal & Compliance team as an Intern and be responsible for providing legal support on corporate and transactional matters, particularly those related to international capital market transactions. The candidate will ensure that the IILM complies with applicable laws and regulations, as well as minimises any legal risk in the IILM’s business operations.

The candidate is expected to: 
•           Undertake a wide range of  legal work relating to various Departments’ mandates
•           Conduct research and prepare relevant papers and detailed reports, including papers to be submitted to various boards, with analysis on a variety of legal issues, compliance, Know Your Customers (KYC) and sanctions.
•           Prepare background materials and project reports in line with the strategic plan of the organisation and work plan of the Department.
•           Review external communication and document relating to asset transactions.
•           Any other relevant duty or responsibility assigned by the Head of Department.

Professional qualification
•           Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD) Degree, and must be qualified and authorized to practice law in at least one jurisdiction

Required Experience
•           Minimum of 1 year of relevant post-call experience, preferably with capital markets background and some corporate law experience.

•           Ability to review debt capital market documentation
•           Ability to draft legal opinions on novel issues
•           Experience in conducting research and preparing reports on legal issues, in drafting various legal documents and project related documents.
•           An ability to identify and analyse legal issues in international financial law
•           Sound judgment capable of developing independent opinion
•           Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
•           Ability to work in an international environment with good team spirit
