Mr. Mahmoud AbuShamma is the Chief Executive Officer of the International Islamic Liquidity Management Corporation. Prior to his appointment at IILM, Mr. AbuShamma served as the Global Head of HSBC Amanah Coverage at HSBC Bank Middle East Limited, Dubai.

He was instrumental in establishing the HSBC Amanah Syariah unit - the first foreign bank to open an Islamic retail banking unit in Indonesia, and served as its Head from 2003 to 2010. In London, he established and headed HSBC’s Islamic Treasury Unit, originated the first Islamic Syndication by HSBC Amanah, and was in charge of the Islamic treasury function in ANZ Investment Bank. Mr. AbuShamma holds a MBA degree in Finance from the Manchester Business School and a Bachelor of Engineering degree from King’s College, London.
